Day 1: Arrive in Santiago de Chile and Dinner Reservations

The exclusive Ritz Carlton is located in the prestigious neighborhood of El Golf in Santiago, only a few minutes away from the city center. The hotel has 205 fully equipped rooms with Wi-Fi, TV, safe deposit box, minibar, private bathroom and fantastic views of the city. In addition, it features four restaurants offering traditional Chilean cuisine and delicious drinks and wine. General facilities include conference center, spa facilities, heated indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi.

Tonight, set out to discover some of the best gastronomy that Santiago has on offer. Arranged to coincide with your preferred dining time, reservations will be made with the restaurant of your choice (subject to availability). To take you to and from the restaurant, private transfers will be arranged. Top dining choices in Santiago include La Mar which specializes in Peruvian fusion and seafood dishes (ceviche in particular), Bocanariz, an innovative restaurant and wine bar where each dish is intended to pair with one of many the venues exceptional wines, and Osaka, an impressive and unique sushi restaurant. Day 2: Private Half Day Santiago Sensations Walking Tour

On this wonderful tour, you will experience Santiago guided by your senses. During your first stop, visit the historic Santa Lucía Hill, which is a lone steep rock that is adorned with wonderful facades, fountains, stairways and where the city was founded in 1541. From there, continue to the París-Londres neighbourhood where you will find examples of famous European architecture within the areas surrounding buildings. A little later, get to know the unique culture of Santiago by sipping coffee at one of the notorious “café con piernas”. From there, you will visit some of the most popular streets of the city, filled with history and home to bustling commerce. Later, head towards the Central Market known for its cuisine and exotic fish stores. You will also experience the Vega Chica Market, which boasts some of the best flavours, scents and colours of this metropolis. It is here that you will try one of Chile's traditional drinks known as Cola de Mono. Winding down, your final stops will be to a renowned flower market filled with colorful displays and beautiful scents, followed by a tour of the cultural Lastarria Neighbourhood, where you will find sights and sounds unique to this amazing city. Soon after, you will be returned to your hotel in Santiago.

Day 3: Private Half Day Perez Cruz Vineyard Tour with Tastings

This excursion will take place south of Santiago, in the heart of an area called Maipo Alto, which you will be privately transferred to in the morning. In this wonderful corner of Chile, you will find the Pérez Cruz Vineyard, a place full of history as well as excellent vines. Specially designed to merge with the surrounding landscape, the cellars stand out not only for the quality of the wines but also for their architecture. Here you will find 550 hectares of magnificent grapevines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot, Carménère, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot. All of these come from this small yet prodigious production, which in 1993 evolved into a wine making project that has earned a fair deal of prestige. The estate is owned by the Pérez Cruz family, who show great dedication to viniculture, participating actively in the production to assure that traditions, quality, and care for the environment meet the highest of standards. Following your tour of the vineyard, which will be paired with two wine tastings, you will be returned to your hotel in Santiago.

Day 4: Private Casablanca Vineyards Tour and onto Valparaiso

In the early 1980’s, and thanks to the climatic features of the area, the Casablanca Valley became the most suitable place for the Chilean winemaking industry. After meeting your private guide, your first stop will be the William Cole Vineyard; here you will participate on shared walk through the facilities to learn about the history of William Cole and about the winemaking process. Before you leave, you will be invited to taste some of the vineyards best wines. You will continue our tour through the valley towards another nearby vineyard, Viñamar. This place is located in the high part of Casablanca and it was founded with the purpose of producing the most exceptional red, white and sparkling wines in the country. Here you will have the opportunity to visit every corner of the vineyard on another shared experience to learn the secrets of their products and taste their specialties: sparkling wine (Brut), Chardonnay, special reserve Merlot and a glass of Cabernet and Carmenere blend. Afterwards, visit the vineyards restaurant to enjoy a lunch accompanied by, of course, a glass of wine. After this amazing day full of delicious wine and food, you will be returned to your accommodation in Santiago.

Transfer: Santiago de Chile - Las Condes to Valparaiso - City Centre

The building has 4 floors and offers 20 luxurious, modern and spacious rooms as well as inviting living areas. Day 5: Private Half Day Valparaiso Walking Tour

On this walking tour you will have the opportunity to discover much of Valparaiso's cultural attractions, natural beauty and Chilean charm. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this important port city was once considered "The Jewel of the Pacific" (before the opening of the Panama Canal). You will have time to explore the downtown area, Sotomayor Plaza, Echaurren Plaza, the well-known harbor area along with the Prat Pier, and much more. You will also visit some of the city's famous colorful hills and neighborhoods. There, high above the metropolis there is a fantastic collection of brightly painted houses and panoramic views. The upper and lower parts of the city are connected with 16 funicular railways constructed around the turn of the century when the city experienced tremendous growth. Part of this excursion will include a ride on one of these historical cable cars, as well as the public trolleybus. The fantastic cultural atmosphere combined with stunning architecture offers one of the best urban experiences in Chile, which you'll experience first-hand on this walking tour. Following the tour, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.

DESCRIPTION

Picturesque Valparaiso was one of the first Chilean cities founded by the Spanish in 1536.

A thriving port for centuries, modern Valparaiso remains Chile’s primary outlet to the sea. In 1906, a vicious earthquake struck the city, toppling hundreds of the city's priceless monuments. This earthquake, however, would be a portent of things to come: The truly fatal blow to Valparaiso would come 8 years later. In 1914, the first international ship crossed the Panama Canal. The golden age of Valparaiso had come to an end. After years of gloom and decay, the historic port and university town is now living something of a revival. The Chilean government has pledged both economic and structural support to the city, and private entities are implementing projects that seek to trigger an urban renaissance in Valparaiso as a world heritage city and Chile's cultural capital. Among the priorities are culture, heritage preservation, and economic development via tourism. This effort culminated in UNESCO naming Valparaiso’s Historic Quarter a World Heritage Site in 2003.

Since over 450 years, this strategic port in the western coast of the South American continent has been the subject of interest for many renamed visitor. First visited by Drake and later on by Dutch pirates, left in ruins by Spanish cannons’ fire and reconstructed many times after numerous earthquakes, Valparaíso is a handmade city, a result of human intervention and an example of urban resilience.

During your 4-hour tour you will have the chance to see Valparaíso distinctively spontaneous hill neighbourhoods and their vernacular architecture, including more than a dozen ascensores (funicular cable cars) that connect the port with its surrounding heights. This is a great city to explore on foot so that you can grasp its beauty.

One of the highlights of the tour will surely be Chilean Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda’s Valparaiso residence, “La Sebastiana”. The house is full to the brim with the eccentric genius’ keepsakes from his many trips abroad, as well as an extensive library.

Valparaiso - Wines of the Casablanca Valley

DESCRIPTION

This morning you will be welcomed at the Valparaíso pier by your guide who will escort you on your private tour to the Casablanca valley.

The Casablanca Valley is a sub-region of the Aconcagua Valley, but its vineyards – first planted in the early 1980s – have earned worldwide recognition in a relatively short space of time. The warm, temperate climate of the area is greatly influenced by the coastal sea breezes, which in combination with a perfect terroir in a valley situated on the coastal plane, with distant hills and slopes rising no more than 400 meters above sea level provide ideal conditions for certain varieties of grape. It is not unlike Santa Barbara and portions of Sonoma, and fittingly, the grapes that have done best over the past half-decade or so have been Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. While the area is best known for its crisp white wines, in particular Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, varieties such as Gewürtztraminer and certain lighter reds such as Pinot Noir are fast becoming the varieties du jour.

The first visit will be made at the Casas del Bosque vineyard where the visit will commence with a tour of the winery and cellars. Continue with a tasting focussing on their superb, award-winning red and white wines including their award-winning Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2004. A selection of dried fruits and cheeses will be served to accompany the wines during the tastings.

Then continue to the Matetic winery.

The new Matetic vineyard, designed by the Viña Matetic team in cooperation with architect Lawrence Odfjell, is a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, constructed so as to complement its glorious setting. In other words, harmony has been reached between the winery´s organic agricultural practices and the natural landscape of the valley.

Upon arrival to the vineyard you will be greeted and invited to listen to a brief introductory speech about the vineyard history and the different phases of wine production while appreciating stunning views of the vineyards and the beautiful Rosario Valley. Then you will proceed to the tasting room where you will sample the high quality Matetic wines.

Lunch today will be served at excellent Matetic Winery’s restaurant.
