Day 1: Arrive in Salt Lake City

Arrive at Salt Lake City International Airport and pick up your car rental. If you want to experience Salt Lake City but don’t have a lot of time, we have a great tour for you to see the architecture and outdoor spaces found in Utah’s Capital City. From is storied history of the Mormon Pioneers to a mining boomtown with its red-light districts, Salt Lake City has always had a multi-cultural and storied history that will come alive during this 3-hour excursion. From its historic temples to the Union Pacific Depot and Trolley Square, our knowledgeable guide will show you around on this amazing tour.

After being picked up from your hotel by our local partner, you’ll head directly into Grand Teton National Park and begin exploring the breathtaking landscapes and amazing wildlife to be found within the park. Start the morning with a drive up the Gros Ventre river towards Kelly and Mormon row, a great area to spot moose, bulls, and cows. Then, enjoy a bit of history as you drive along Mormon Row, before heading into the heart of Grand Teton National. Explore points of interest such as Signal Mountain, Jackson Lake, Willow Flats, Oxbow Bend, Elk Ranch Flats, Dead Man’s Bar, Snake River Overlook, and many more. Enjoy the chance to view a multitude of wildlife that makes Grand Teton its home. Bears, wolves, elk, moose, deer, eagles, all are common sights on the tour. Returning to Jackson by about 11:30 AM, you’ll have time for lunch before you continue your drive to West Yellowstone.

Travel into Idaho, home of the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in the Snake River plain. Just outside Twin Falls, your final destination today, Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument contains the most prehistoric horse fossils in the USA as well as many other animals, including mastodon, saber-toothed cats and bears. You can see some of them in the visitor center.

See exhibits dating back 3.5 million years including the famed Hagerman horse, mastodon, ground sloth and more. We then drive the Thousand Springs Scenic byway towards one of the most breathtaking panoramic views, overlooking three miles of the Oregon Trail.
