Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica

Transfer: San Jose CR to Monteverde

Hotel: Senda Monteverde Hotel (4 Star Rating)

Senda Monteverde Hotel is the cozy mountain lodge you’ve been searching for. Enjoy upmarket essentials, easy access to Monteverde adventures, and complimentary hiking in the Aguti Wildlife Reserve all year round. Hidden and private, yet just a short walk from Monteverde town and a private cloud forest reserve, Senda is where wonder meets wander.

Set out on an extraordinary journey with TreeTopiaPark's Explorer Package: the ultimate blend of thrill, wonder, and exploration in Monteverde. Perfect for adventurers seeking both heart-pounding excitement and serene discovery, this three-in-one experience offers the best of the cloud forest from every perspective. After arriving from your hotel on a shared transfer, start your adventure with the TreeTram cableway, a relaxing ascent offering sweeping panoramic views of the lush, misty landscape. Next, take on the Sky Trek zipline circuit, an exhilarating flight over the forest canopy with nearly two miles of high-flying ziplines, reaching heights of up to 328 feet and speeds that will take your breath away. Finally, immerse yourself in the peaceful beauty of the Sky Walk hanging bridges, where you'll traverse elevated trails and suspension bridges with unique, up-close encounters with the cloud forest's incredible biodiversity. After the TreeTram, SkyTrek and SkyWalk tour, you will be returned to your hotel in Monteverde.

Today you will be transferred from Monteverde to Arenal, making use of both vehicles and a boat to turn this point-to-point transfer into an enjoyable and scenic experience. The transfer begins at your hotel, where a private minibus will pick you up and drive for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to Lake Arenal, making a stop along the way if requested to purchase beverages, food and to use the washroom. Upon arrival to Lake Arenal, you will board a comfortable and safe pontoon-type boat and set out on a 45-minute sailing, arriving on the other side of the lake in due time, and disembarking just minutes from the many resorts and iconic sites of Arenal and La Fortuna. Lake Arenal is the largest and most important in Costa Rica. It is of artificial origin - built in 1974 in order to obtain hydroelectric power for the country - and is a place where you can spot a variety of resident and migratory birds, and often times mammals like monkeys and sloths. You will also take in excellent views of the Arenal Volcano when it is not cloudy. After disembarking from the boat, you will board an awaiting minibus which will privately transfer you to your hotel, taking roughly 20 to 30 minutes (depending on the location of your hotel). It is recommended to wear long pants, a coat, comfortable shoes, and a waterproof jacket. Approximate travel time is 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Hotel: Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort (5 Star Rating)

Featuring hot spring baths, sauna, massages services, luxury spa treatments and 5 swimming pools, Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort is 15 minutes' drive from the Arenal Volcano National Park.

Activities such as volcano tours, rappel, hiking through suspension bridges and rafting are also available.

This complex is a 20 minute drive from La Fortuna main square and 1 hour drive from Venado Caves. Juan Santamaria International Airport is 2 hours' drive away.

Discover Costa Rica´s largest network of naturally flowing thermal mineral springs in Arenal’s largest and most beautiful private, rainforest reserve during a day at leisure. An essential part of exploring the wondrous world of the Tabacon Hot Springs is soaking in the cascading thermal waterfalls. This natural hydrotherapy is a surefire way to achieve proper relaxation. Guests tend to thoroughly enjoy exploring the numerous river pools, with temperatures range from 72 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and with the perfect combination of high volume and mineral content. All of Tabacon’s water has always been and will always be true, thermal water, naturally heated by the volcano and slowly mineralized, underground. Tabacon overnight guests receive complimentary access to the thermal river and its pools; hotel guests also receive exclusive access to Shangri-La Gardens, the exclusive adults-only hideaway.

Following the brief transfer from your hotel to Arenal Mundo Aventura, you'll participate in a local safety orientation, then set out on a private horseback ride through the beautiful tropical countryside, en route to a forest path that leads to La Fortuna Waterfall. Upon arrival, your local guide will escort you on a walking tour along the trail, which will take you to La Fortuna Waterfall, one of the region's most impressive highlights. Here you can enjoy the views, take a refreshing dip in the cool waters, and soon after, start the ascent to the trail again. Near the end of the tour a healthy fruit plate at La Casa de Don Chico will enliven the closing of this relaxing activity, soon followed by the return private transfer back to your hotel.

The Arenal area is well known for the diversity of its fauna, however, one of the most popular species is the sloth. During this activity, you will have the opportunity to admire two or three fingers sloths, these being the most popular species in the region, and you will also learn about their many unique quirks. Your guide will look for the best places to observe them in their natural habitat, leading you through beautiful open areas in La Fortuna and, with a little luck, you will spot many more species such as the multicolored toucan, the poison dart frog, iguanas, and monkeys, among others.

Transfer: La Fortuna - Arenal to Fortuna Airport

The crossing takes about 30 minutes, and upon arrival at Tortuga Island, a delicious beachside BBQ will be prepared for you. You’ll be able to choose between fish, chicken, potatoes, and fresh fruit, served alongside cold beer or water. Here you will have about an hour to go snorkeling and discover the island’s remarkable marine life. After the exploration of Tortuga, you’ll be returned to your hotel.

Spend your day at leisure soaking up coastal charm. Relax on powdery golden sands or poolside at your hotel, or consider participating in a catamaran cruise to nearby coves. Snorkeling and paddleboarding reveal colorful marine life, while charming towns offer aromatic taquerias and boutique shopping. For a more local touch, visit a resident art gallery, a coastal cafe, or explore trails at a nearby nature reserve. As evening arrives, a relaxing dinner by the water as the sky glows pink and gold is highly recommended.
