1 Arrive Santa Bárbara De Heredia, Costa Rica

A vibrant town with palm-stippled squares, ornate churches and surrounding coffee plantations, Santa Bárbara de Heredia wafts with the sweet perfume of blooming flowers. The streets are a charming patchwork of cobblestones and colorful buildings, where the sound of lively conversations and the gentle strumming of guitars mingle with the chirping of birds

Heredia’s coffee plantations give way to lush gardens, where the history of coffee cultivation comes alive. Observe the meticulous production process, gaining a deeper appreciation for the journey from bean to cup.

Turrialba towers over the landscape like the region’s chimney, prone to fits of rage. Its lush slopes bristle with cloud forests, groves of tropical fruit trees and sugar cane plantations. Verdant shadows cloak the town itself, a launchpad for adventures in the Costa Rican heartland, from horseback riding and waterfall swimming to raft rides along the Pacuare River.

El Tesorito Creek beckons with the promise of adventure. Venturing deeper into the forest climb through narrow gorges, slide down or swim to the base of secluded waterfalls, and rappel down a 100-foot rock face, uncovering the secrets of the enchanting landscape.

Slumbering Arenal Volcano dominates the landscape here, its near-perfect cone wreathed in clouds. La Fortuna, nestled at its base, provides the perfect launching pad for exploring this vibrant ecosystem. Though the dramatic lava flows have ceased, the park’s allure remains. Hot springs bubble up, and forests are rich with birds and other wildlife.

Feel the rush of adrenaline as you zoom by zip-line through the rainforest canopy, Arenal a looming backdrop and the Pino Blanco waterfall tumbling over cliffs below.

The Mirador Arenal 1968 offers a breathtaking vantage point from which to observe volcanic wonders. Strolling along the well-maintained trails, see swaths of secondary forest teem with life and slopes scarred by ancient lava flows.

Embark on an unforgettable evening adventure as twilight descends upon the park. Exploring volcanic landscapes under the cloak of night, enjoy privileged access to a private reserve, where a symphony of nocturnal creatures emerges from the shadows. Then, indulge in a private dining experience beside Pino Blanco’s silver-white falls.

A riot of color and sound greets you in the tropics. Hummingbirds flit among blooms, sloths hanging from the trees. This small park overflows with life, be it the call of titi monkeys or jewel-like frogs hiding in the trees. On boulder-dotted beaches, waves of the Pacific sweep the sands.

Pedal-kayak through the mysterious mangrove forests of Isla Damas, where the air is thick with humidity and sunlight filters through its tangled canopy. As you glide through the calm waters, your guide unveils hidden corners of this unique ecosystem — and its vital role in protecting wildlife and the wider landscape.

Feel the salty spray as you ride the waves along Manuel Antonio’s shores during a half-day surfing adventure. Under the guidance of expert instructors, feel the power of the ocean while embracing the serenity of nature.
